Langley, BC - The Victoria Royals dropped a 4-1 decision to the Vancouver Giants on Friday night at the Langley Events Centre.

Notes:

Penalty Kill: In the season series between the Royals and the Giants, both teams have seen success with their penalty kill. Victoria is a perfect 13/13 being a man short, while Vancouver has gone 19/20 on the penalty kill.

Scoring Streak: Royals' forwards Kaid Oliver and Tarun Fizer extended their scoring streaks. Oliver has now recorded six points (3g-3a) in his past four games, while Fizer has collected three goals and two assists in his last three contests.

Playing the Giants: Since the 2012-13 season, the Royals have posted an overall record of 46-24-3-1 against the Giants. This includes a road record of 21-16-1-0. Victoria is now 2-1-0-0 against Vancouver at the Langley Events Centre this season.

Back Home: Langley, BC native Keegan Maddocks was recalled by the Royals for tonight's game and made his second career WHL appearance. Maddocks plays for the Delta Hockey Academy Midget Prep team of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL).

Former Royal: Vancouver forward Eric Florchuk played in only his second game versus the Royals since he was traded by the team in the 2017-18 season. In those two contests against Victoria, he has recorded three goals. Florchuk was traded to the Saskatoon Blades in return for a pair of first round draft picks (2019 & 2021) and a fourth round pick in 2018. He was acquired by the Giants on January 10th for 2001-born forward Evan Patrician, a 2020 first round draft pick and a 2021 second round pick.

Byram Returns: Giants' defenceman Bowen Byram returned to the line-up tonight for the first time since winning the gold medal with Team Canada at the 2020 World Junior Hockey Championships.
