TODAY: The Royals host Salt Lake in game 3 of a 4-game series at Rosenblatt Stadium. The series is tied 1-1. The game features ½-price burgers, courtesy of Omaha Steaks. Plus it's Seniors Day; all fans 60-and-over get $2 off the price of any ticket, presented by The City Weekly. Air-time is 11:45 a.m. on Magic 1490 and at www.Oroyals.com.

LAST NIGHT: The Royals snapped their six-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Bees. Eddie Yarnall (1-0) was terrific in a spot start, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits over 6.2 innings. Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the 4th, the Royals scored 4 runs to take the lead. Mike Aviles stroked a 2-run double to put Omaha in front and chase Salt Lake starter Nathan Bland (0-2), who was also charged with Aviles' run when Ricky Bell followed with an RBI single. Bell, who capped the rally on Chip Ambres' RBI single, crushed a solo homer in the 6th to make it 5-1. The Bees scored 2 unearned runs in the 8th, aided by Luke Hudson's throwing error. Joe Nelson issued a one-out walk in the 9th, but retired the last 2 batters to record his 2nd save.

ROYALS REPORT: In his 2 spot starts for J.P. Howell, Yarnall has posted a 2.31 ERA, allowing 3 earned runs in 11.2 innings. He had a 3.27 ERA in his 1st 9 appearances, all in relief. *** Aviles is on an 8-game hitting streak, tied for the club's longest this season, matching earlier streaks by Chad Allen and Kerry Robinson. During his streak, Aviles is 9-for-29 (.310) and he's hitting .321 (25-78) over his last 21 games, with 2 homers and 12 RBI. *** Bell was in a 2-for-43 (.047) slump prior to his 7th inning single in Tuesday's series opener. Since then, he's 3-for-5 with a home run and 2 RBI. *** Ambres, who went 2-for-3 last night, has hit in 6 straight games. He's gone 7-for-18 (.389) during the streak to up his average from .157 to .196. *** Allen has hit in 7 of his last 8 games, hitting at a .355 (11-31) clip and driving in 8 runs over that stretch. *** After going 2-for-23 (.087) in his 1st 7 games, Paul Phillips has hit .315 (23-73) over his last 18 starts behind the plate. *** Alejandro Prieto, who hit .167 in his 1st 8 games for Omaha, had 2 singles and a walk in 4 trips to the plate last night, raising his average to .212. *** Nelson is now the Royals team leader with 2 saves, notching the bullpen's 6th save last night in its 11th opportunity. It was a nice rebound for Nelson, who had allowed 2 runs in 2.0 innings last Sunday at Round Rock and had blown a save and took the loss on May 4th at Albuquerque, when he surrendered 2 runs (1 earned) in one-third of an inning.

STARTERS: RH Jered Weaver (2-1, 3.34) vs. RH Kyle Snyder (0-1, 3.41)

Snyder is making his 5th start (6th appearance) of the season. The 28-year old right-hander made his 1st start since April 21 last Saturday at Round Rock. In that outing, Snyder equaled club highs for innings pitched (8.0) and strikeouts (7) in a game this season and did not walk a batter. He was in line to pick up his 1st win until the Express scored 2 runs off Omaha's bullpen in the bottom of the 9th for a 5-4 victory. Snyder opened the 2005 season with Omaha, but had 3 stints with KC. He went 2-3 with a 3.55 ERA in 15 games (12 starts) for Omaha and was 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA in 13 games (3 starts) for KC. He compiled a 2.66 ERA in his 10 relief appearances in the big leagues, but lost all 3 of his starts and had a 14.59 ERA. Snyder missed the entire 2004 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder. He also missed all of the 2001 season recovering from Tommy John surgery. Snyder was KC's 1st round pick (7th overall) in the 1999 draft out of the University of North Carolina.

PROBABLES FOR REMAINDER OF SERIES:

Fri., 7:05: RH Dustin Moseley (5-1, 2.92) vs. RH Adam Bernero (1-1, 3.60)
