Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - Seth Etherton gave up two runs over seven innings to get his first win of the year and Dustin Delucchi had two RBIs in his return to the Portland Beavers to lead a 3-2 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes before 6,155 Thursday night at PGE Park.

Jon Knott hit his sixth home run for the Beavers (20-14), who stretched their season-best winning streak to six games.

Etherton (1-1) struck out six and gave up just three hits to pick up his first victory since Aug. 2, 2005 while a member of the Sacramento River Cats.

Scott Seabol hit two solo homers off Etherton to lead the Isotopes (22-13), who have lost four straight.

With the game tied in the fifth, the Beavers took the lead when Bobby Hill and Jason Hill singled to lead off the bottom of the inning; both scored on a double to right-center by Delucchi, who was transferred to Portland from Class AA Mobile earlier in the day.

Jason Anderson, who hasn't allowed a run in his last eight appearances, worked out of potential trouble in the eighth and Brian Sikorski pocketed his fifth save of the season by striking out the side in the ninth.

Isotopes' starter Jeff Fulchino (2-2) gave up three runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings as the losing pitcher.

Knott's solo homer off Fulchino gave the Beavers a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

The Beavers' impressive string of consecutive shutout innings ended at 26, one shy of the team's six-year record, when Seabol took Etherton deep to left to knot the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth.

Portland recorded back-to-back shutouts over Albuquerque on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Seabol hit his second home run in the seventh to cut the Beavers' lead to a run.

The Beavers and Isotopes conclude their series Friday night at PGE Park.

NOTES: Portland outfielder Freddy Guzman was traded along with right-handed pitcher Cesar Rojas to Texas on Thursday ... the Beavers' 26 straight shutout innings was one shy of matching the team's six-year record, set April 18-22, 2002.
