Royals End Big Week on High Note

The Reading Royals entered this week eight points out of the playoff race. They finished the week six points out of a potential playoff spot. The Royals picked up their 28th victory of the season on Sunday over Toledo, which surpassed their win total from their inaugural season (27). Reading beat the Richmond Renegades to start the week 4-3 in regulation. Wednesday the Royals took to the road and were downed by Trenton. Friday, Reading squeaked out an overtime point in Lexington. Of a possible eight points this week the Royals picked up five.

The Royals will again play four games this week with three of those games taking place at home in the Sovereign Center. The Northeast Division leading Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies come to town on Tuesday night. Friday, Reading plays host to the Roanoke Express for the final time in the Sovereign Center. Saturday night marks the final meeting between the Richmond Renegades and Reading Royals in the regular season. Finally Sunday, Reading returns home to take on the Trenton Titans at 2:05 p.m. (Comcast telecast).

Tuesday, February 25 vs. Atlantic City Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies and Reading Royals meet for the seventh time this season. Ironically, the road team has dominated this series winning every game. Reading won the last outing in Atlantic 6-5 in overtime. Mat Snesrud picked up the game winner. Reading and Atlantic City will each host one more game in this nine game regular season series.

Friday, February 28 vs. Roanoke Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: A huge divisional game awaits the Royals on February 28 in the Sovereign Center. Roanoke battles Reading for the fourth and final time in Reading. The Express are 3-0 against the Royals in Reading and 5-0 all-time. Roanoke's Jason Jaffray leads all scorers in this series with five goals and 12 points in five games.

Saturday, March 1 @ Richmond Richmond Coliseum 7:35PM

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals and Richmond Renegades meet for the final time this season on Saturday in Richmond Coliseum. Reading is 4-2-1 against Richmond this season. The Royals held off the ‘Gades on February 18, 4-3. Reading's Brian McCullough leads this season series in scoring posting six goals and 15 points.

Sunday, March 2 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center 2:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Royals record slipped to 2-5-0 this season against the Trenton Titans. The Titans blasted Reading in their last meeting 8-3. Marco Charpentier led the way for Trenton with a hat trick and four points. The Royals and Titans will meet on Wednesday and Friday in Reading to finish off their ten game season series.

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals picked up their fourth win against the Richmond Renegades this season. Reading's Brian McCullough picked up his fifth game winner in the 4-3 decision. Jeff Sanger stopped 33 shots to secure his 16th win.

Wednesday, February 19 @ Trenton Sovereign Bank Arena 7:00PM

GAME NOTES: The Trenton Titans dominance over the Reading Royals continued with an 8-3 win last Wednesday . The Royals surrendered three second period goals to the Titans to lose for the fifth time in seven meetings. The Royals struggles go back to last season...Reading is 4-11-2 all-time versus Trenton.

Friday, February 21 @ Lexington Rupp Arena 7:30PM

GAME NOTES: For the second time in two meetings with Lexington, the game had to go to an extra session. 50-seconds into overtime Lexington notched the game winner off the stick of Joe Vandermeer. Reading tied the game with just 51-seconds left in regulation to force overtime. The Royals and Men-O-War meet one more time in Lexington on March 28.

Sunday, February 23 vs. Toledo Sovereign Center 2:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Royals extended their winning streak at home to three straight with a 4-2 win over the Toledo Storm. Dating back to last season, Reading was winless against the Storm in two meetings in the Sovereign Center. Colin Pepperall picked up his team leading 8th game-winning goal this season. The two teams will meet again in Toledo on March 19.

Brian McCullough has recaptured the scoring lead in the ECHL. McCullough's nine point week gives him 82 (career high). McCullough leads the Royals in the following statistical categories: goals (34) assists (48) points (82) pp goals (13), first goals (3) and shots (176).

Jeff Sanger's solid play paced the Royals to a 2-1-1 week. Sanger made over 100 saves in his four appearances this week. The Colorado College native has set a Royals franchise mark for most wins by a goaltender (17).
