Greensboro Generals News Release

UPCOMING WEEK: The Greensboro Generals have only two games this week, with both of them being played at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Generals start the week on Thursday at 7:00 as they battle the Augusta Lynx for the third time in the last ten days. Thursday's contest is a "Thirsty Thursday" game for fans, with R. H. Berringer offering dollar drafts for the game. The Generals then host the Columbia Inferno on Friday night at 7:35 for their "Pack the House" night. The night is loaded with promotions, giveaways, and specials. The Generals will wear Carolina Monarchs jerseys for the contest, which will be auctioned off to fans right after the game. Among other specials for the night, the Generals will be giving away 1,000 Kevin Weekes bobblehead dolls, WWE's Shawn Michaels will be on hand to sign autographs and drop the ceremonial first puck, there will be a concession deal of $2.50 for a hot dog and Carolina Monarchs souvenir sports bottle, and group tickets for ten or more seats are available for only $6.00.

The Generals were originally scheduled to play this Saturday against the Cincinnati Cyclones, but that game has been rescheduled for Monday, March 3 at 7:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum. All games this season can be heard on WPET AM-950 and online at www.greensborogenerals.com.

LAST WEEK: 2/18 AUGUSTA 2, GREENSBORO 5 ¨ In his first game as a General, Bryan Richardson was the star of the game. With Greensboro already ahead 1-0 on a Rod Aldoff goal, Richardson set up Sam Ftorek for a 2-0 advantage. Following a Lynx score, Richardson regained the two-goal lead with his first goal in a Generals uniform. Richardson finished off his night with another assist on a David Whitworth goal, and Pete Gardiner polished off the victory with an empty net goal.

2/21 GREENSBORO 2, ROANOKE 3 ¨ The Generals dug themselves an early hold, and their comeback bid fell one goal short. Down 3-0 late in the second period, Bryan Richardson put Greensboro on the board with his second goal in as many games. Rod Aldoff put the Generals one step closer by scoring with just over seven minutes remaining to make the score 3-2. Despite several chances to tie the game in the closing moments, the Express held on to earn the victory.

2/22 GREENSBORO 4, COLUMBIA 7 ¨ Greensboro's defense let them down for one of the few times this season, as they couldn't contain the red hot Inferno. With Greensboro trailing 2-0 in the first period, they roared back with goals from Jay Murphy and Mark Turner to even the score heading into the locker room. The Generals were unable to convert numerous chances to take the lead in the second period, and Columbia made them pay with three unanswered goals before the break. Greensboro added third period goals from Pete Gardiner and Shane Campbell after the game was decided.

2/23 GREENSBORO 0, AUGUSTA 1 (SO) ¨ Both Greensboro's Sebastien Centomo and the Lynx's Tom Draper put on goaltending clinics, each earning shutouts. However, it was Augusta who earned the victory by outscoring the Generals 2-0 in the shootout. Centomo was spectacular for the Generals, making 48 saves, but his first ECHL shutout did not result in a victory.
