BOISE, Idaho - The West Coast Hockey League's first place Idaho Steelheads split a weekend set in Anchorage against the Aces, getting shutout 2-0 on Friday night and winning 2-1 in the Saturday matchup. The Friday win was only the second for the Aces against the Steelheads this season, but put an end to Idaho's quest for a team franchise-high eight consecutive wins.

Top of Their League: The Steelheads are now 40-11-4, 84 points on the season, 24-1-1 at home and 16-10-3 on the road. The Steelheads lead the league in goals (210), assists (346), and points (556). They also have the best overall power play record scoring 74 goals with 303 opportunities (24.4%).
Sizzling Steelhead: The Steelheads have three of the top ten scorers in the league: Marty Flichel (RW) is third with 63 points; Scott Swanson (D) is fourth with his 60 points; and Joe Rybar (C) is tied for sixth with 56. Swanson leads the league in assists with 52, and his 60 points makes him the top scoring defensemen. Flichel is second in the league in goals scored with 32, and tied for first in power play goals with 16.
Notable Honors: Steelheads named Minor League Hockey Team of the Week: BOSTON (Ticker) - The league-leading Idaho Steelheads have the best home record in all of professional hockey and have earned the national recognition of being named Minor League Hockey Team of the Week from Sportsticker. Their announcement included the statement, "With 19 games left in the regular season and five of their next 10 games at arguably the toughest home arena to play in, the Steelheads are on pace to surpass their franchise-best record from last season of 47-17-8."
In the Community: Steelheads players will be answering phones for the St. Luke's Children's Hospital Telethon from 8:00-9:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 27th in the hospital lobby...The telethon will be broadcast on Lite108...The Steelheads deliver hot meals to homebound citizens every Monday for the Meals on Wheels program.
