Royals Doubled up by Thunderbirds

Kent, WA- The Victoria Royals cut into a three-goal deficit, but were unable to complete the comeback as they fell 4-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday night.

Victoria opened the third period down 3-0 and received goals from Ethan Price and Jared Dmytriw to put them back within one. Seattle's Nolan Volcan rounded out the scoring to put the game out of reach. The Thunderbirds' Mathew Barzal, Ryan Gropp and Keegan Kolesar notched the first three markers for the homeside.

Victoria goaltender Coleman Vollrath turned away 22 of the 25 shots he faced in the first two periods. In the final frame Griffen Outhouse made his first career WHL appearance and stopped 13 of the 14 shots fired at him.

Seattle netminder Logan Flodell turned aside 21 of the 23 shots directed his way.

Victoria went 0/50.0% on the man-advantage, while the Thunderbirds went 1/425.0% on the night.

The Royals will head to Kamloops for a match-up vs. the Blazers on Wednesday with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Royals will then travel to Spokane to face the Chiefs on Friday, October 23rd and Saturday, October 24th. Puck drop for both games is slated for 7:05 p.m.

Victoria returns home on Tuesday, October 27th against the Lethbridge Hurricanes for Winter Driving Awareness Night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
