Rebels End Road Trip with 6-4 Win in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, BC - The Rebels ended the 4-game B.C. road trip with a 6-4 win over the Vancouver Giants.

The Rebels came out flying in the first period, out shooting the Giants 19-4 and outscoring them 2-0. Wyatt Johnson and Colton Bobyk had the Rebels goals.

In the second period, the Rebels extended their lead to 3-0 on a goal by Brandon Hagel. The Giants cut the lead to 3-1 when Jakob Stukel put one in. It was 3-1 for the Rebels after two periods.

Then came the crazy third period. The Giants made it 3-2 on a goal by Jackson Houck on the power play. Vancouver tied it at three when Carter Popoff scored. The Rebels took a 4-3 lead on a goal by Lane Peterson. The lead was short lived; Ty Ronning of the Giants tied it at 4. The Rebels took a 5-4 lead on a goal by Haydn Fleury. There were four goals scored in 2:25. Lane Peterson added an empty net goal.

There were four Rebels players with 3 point evenings, Lane Peterson (2-1-3), Wyatt Johnson (1-2-3), Conner Bleackley (0-3-3), and Brandon Hagel (1-2-3).

Trevor Martin made 19 saves in the Rebels net. Payton Lee stopped 27 shots in the Giants goal.

The Rebels were 0 for 2 on the power play and killed 3 of 4 shorthanded situations.

The Rebels ended the trip going 2-2-0-0.

The Rebels return home to play the Saskatoon Blades Wednesday at the ENMAX Centrium for a 7:00PM game.
