ALEXANDRIA, MN - The St. Cloud Rox (15-8) took game one of their series against the Willmar Stingers (18-5) with a 5-4 final score, Thursday, June 22nd. In the Great Plains West division, the Rox sit among the top teams in the division.
The starting pitcher for St. Cloud was Piercen McElyea. McElyea went 5.1 innings in his 4thstart of the season, striking out one batter and giving up three earned runs. McElyea has 22.1 innings pitched this season with a 1.21 ERA and a team-leading 20 strikeouts.
Albert Choi got the Rox offense started early with an RBI single in the 2ndinning and scored the game-winning run in the 11thinning. Choi finished the game with two hits, two RBI, and two stolen bases. Matt Goetzmann continues to get hot at the dish, with two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Weber Neels had two hits in the victory, batting in a run in the 10thinning.
Tommy Gross had an incredible outing in his 4thappearance. Gross went 4.2 innings in relief, giving up just a single hit to the Willmar offense, along with four strikeouts. Gross has 10.2 innings pitched this season without giving up an earned run with 12 strikeouts. Jake Burcham came in the 11thinning, shutting the Stingers down with two strikeouts.

The Rox head on the road for a two-game series against the Willmar Stingers with a 7:05 first pitch tomorrow, June 23rd, in Willmar, MN. The Rox will return home on Sunday, June 25th, for a 4:05 first pitch in the second game of a home-and-home series against the Mankato MoonDogs. At the ballpark, there will be "Books & Baseball"! Kids 7 & under receive a book and get to read on the field with Rox players from 3:05 to 3:30. It will also be "Friends & Family Day presented by Taco John's".
