DES MOINES, Iowa - Neil Ramirez gave up two runs on four hits in 5.1 innings to lead the Round Rock Express (17-10) past the Iowa Cubs (13-14) 9-2 in Pacific Coast League action Thursday afternoon at Principal Park. Ramirez (3-1) got the win, walking two and striking out five.

The Cubs got on the board in the first inning on Lou Montanez's RBI groundout to score Tony Campana. Campana walked to lead off the inning, stole second and then advanced to third on Robinzon Diaz's throwing error.

The Express answered in the top of the second when Brad Nelson scored on Luis Cruz's RBI double to left-center. Cruz later scored on Matt Camp's fielding error. The Express added two more runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Esteban German and Brian Barden to make it a 4-1 game.

The Express scored five runs in the sixth on Brian Barden's RBI double, a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and Craig Gentry's three-RBI double.

The Cubs added one more run in the sixth inning on a bases-loaded walk.

Todd Wellemeyer (0-1) got the loss for the Cubs, allowing four earned runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

Eight of the nine Express starters had hits in the game. German and Nelson each had two.

The Express took the series 3-1, while the season series is now tied 4-4. The Express are now 8-2 when allowing a first-inning run.

The Express return home for a four-game series against the Nashville Sounds. The series opens Friday at 7:05 p.m. CDT. Left-hander Zach Jackson (2-1, 5.01 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Express, while right-hander Frankie De La Cruz (0-1, 2.42 ERA) will pitch for the Sounds.
