May 5, 2011 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox scored six runs in the eighth inning, overcoming a three run deficit, to win 9-6 over the Fresno Grizzlies in front of 3,427 fans at Security Service Field.

Trailing 6-3 entering the eighth, the Sky Sox would tie the game on a two-run single by Brad Emaus and a pinch-hit RBI single by Matt Pagnozzi. With the bases loaded, Chris Nelson sent a 3-2 pitch down the right field line, clearing the bases and giving the Sox a 9-6 lead. Jim Miller shut down the Grizzlies in the ninth to earn the save and preserve the win for the Sox.

Sean White (2-0, 6.35) earned the win for the Sox, tossing a scoreless inning of relief. Steve Edlefsen (0-2, 4.70) took the loss for the Grizzlies, allowing all six Sky Sox runs in the eighth inning.

The Grizzlies jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings on run-scoring hits by Matt Yourkin, Brandon Belt, and Brett Pill.

The Sox crept within one after Eric Young Jr. tripled in a run and scored as the relay throw missed the cutoff man, and Matt Macri delivered an RBI single to make it 4-3.

Fresno added two insurance runs in the seventh on run-scoring hits by Pill and Conor Gonzalez to temporarily hold the lead 6-3.

Sox starter Greg Reynolds allowed six runs on 11 hits in 6.1 innings while picking up a no-decision.

With the win, the Sox improve to 13-15 on the season while Fresno drops to 14-14 with the loss.

The Sox will hit the road for a short four-game series with the Sacramento River Cats beginning tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 PM MT.
