Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Charleston RiverDogs defeated the Rome Braves in both games of a doubleheader Tuesday night in front of 2,056 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The first game ended 1-0 and the second 2-0.
Game one had just one run crossing the plate. In the Charleston fifth, Ray Kruml reached base on a fielding error. He later stole second and Jose Pirela singled to drive him in for the RiverDogs 1-0 eventual win. Chuck Nolte (2-2) gets the win and Zeke Spruill (8-6) takes the loss.
In the second game of the night the Braves didn't fare any better. Charleston quickly scored in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead when Jose Pirela led off with a double to left and another double by Melky Mesa.
In the top of the sixth the RiverDogs would add to their lead. Corban Joseph led off with a double and Taylor Grote followed with a single to score Joseph. That would push the lead to 2-0 and Charleston would hang on for their second victory of the night.
Gabriel Tatis (2-2) picks up the win for Charleston and Randall Delgado (4-10) takes the loss. Luke Prihoda earns the save.
The Braves take on Charleston again tomorrow afternoon at 1pm in a Business Persons Special start. For ticket information call 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
