HICKORY, N.C. - The Hickory Crawdads, South Atlantic League affiliate of the Texas Rangers, announced on Tuesday that OF/1B Jared Bolden has been promoted by Texas to the class AAA Oklahoma City RedHawks in the Pacific Coast League.
Bolden, 22, appeared in 107 games with the Crawdads this season, registering a .238 batting average with one home run and 34 RBIs. The native of Lynchburg, Virginia, leads all current Crawdads with 62 runs scored this season, and also is second in games played, hits (88) and walks (38). Bolden put together a personal season-high hitting streak of nine games, from Aug. 20 to Aug. 28, with 11 hits during that stretch.
Bolden becomes the first 2009 Crawdad to reach the AAA level, and the 12th Crawdad overall to earn a promotion this season. LHP Martin Perez is currently with the AA Frisco RoughRiders, while RF Mike Bianucci, LHP Richard Bleier, INF Jake Kaase, C Doug Hogan, INF Erik Morrison, CF David Paisano, OF Timmy Rodriguez, LHP Glenn Swanson and RHP Tyler Tufts are all currently on the High-A Bakersfield Blaze. Current Crawdads OF Eric Fry also spent a month with Bakersfield.

Hickory returns to L.P. Frans Stadium for their final home series of the 2009 season from Tuesday, Sept. 1 to Thursday, Sept. 3 against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The Crawdads Unemployment Night will be extended to this series as well. Fans can receive four free tickets to any of the three games by presenting their NCESC debit card or printed online statement at the Crawdads Ticket Office.
The Tuesday, Sept. 1 game is the last Dollar Day of the season -- buy one grandstand ticket and get an additional one for just a buck! Nine other items around the ballpark will also be priced at only $1, including select delicious concessions items and souvenir programs. Then, all kids in attendance on Wednesday, Sept. 2 can run the bases like the pros after the game. The series and home schedule concludes with a $1 Beverage Night on Thursday, Sept. 3, when your favorite beverages cost just a buck at L.P. Frans Stadium!
