McLouth to Rehab in Rome
September 1, 2009 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - Atlanta Braves outfielder Nate McLouth is expected to serve a Major League Rehab assignment on Thursday and Friday as a member of the Rome Braves. McLouth strained his hamstring at Dodger Stadium on August 8th and later aggravated it again against the Phillies on August 15th. It appeared that he would rejoin the Atlanta team soon but irritated the hamstring on a rehab stint in AA Mississippi last Saturday.
McLouth was hitting .258 in 2009 with 15 home runs and 56 RBI. He was obtained by Atlanta on June 3, 2009 in a trade that sent prospects Jeff Locke, Charlie Morton and Gorkys Hernandez to Pittsburgh. He received the 2008 Roberto Clemente Award as "the Pirates player who best exemplifies the standard of excellence achieved by Clemente" and was a member of the National League All-Star team last season.
McLouth is the fourth major leaguer, joining Tom Glavine, Omar Infante, and David Ross, to rehab in Rome this season.
Rome will play their final three home games of the year beginning Wednesday at 1pm. Games on Thursday and Friday will start at 7pm. For more information call the Rome Braves at 706-378-5100 or log on to www.romebraves.com.
