RiverDogs Return Thursday for Final Homestand

CHARLESTON, SC - After a quick three-day journey away from the Lowcountry, the Charleston RiverDogs return to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park for a five-game homestand against the Savannah Sand Gnats that represents the final games of the 2009 season.

The homestand runs Thursday, Sept. 3 and ends on Monday, Sept. 7. Most games begin at 7:05 p.m. with Sunday's game starting at 5:05 p.m. and Monday's first pitch is set for 6:05 p.m., and baseball enthusiasts will enjoy the final five-game homestand as endless fun and excitement bounds along the banks of the scenic Ashley River.

Force Protection Industries Red Shirt Friday / Gene Reed Toyota Friday Night Fireworks / Ed Randall's Bat For the Cure! with free blood screenings, presented by Gene Reed Toyota, Force Protection Industries and 103.5 FM WEZL. Fans will have the opportunity to bid for the red jersey that the players have been wearing every Friday night all season with the proceeds aiding the local military families.

Paint-it-yourself Bobblehead Giveaway as the first 1,000 fans receive a free, plain bobblehead and a set of paints to decorate their player in their favorite team colors, presented by WCSC-TV5. It is also Fancaster of the Year Night where the nine finalists will have one inning to broadcast the game.

SC Blue Store Fan Appreciation Day / Dogs With A Cause. The RiverDogs display thanks for fan support by giving away prizes, jerseys, baseball memorabilia and more all night long and cap off the season with fireworks. All fans receive a stadium cup and one lucky fan will walk away with a free IPod Touch, courtesy of SC Blue Store. It is also a Dogs With A Cause Night where the Ronald McDonald will be raising money and awareness for their cause. Thursday, 7:05 pm: Thirsty Thursday / Midget Wrestling II

Every Thursday is a Thirsty Thursday as the RiverDogs offer beer for only $1 at the scenic Ashley View Pub. This Thursday is also Midget Wrestling II as Little Kato battles Beautiful Bobby after the game. Thirsty Thursday / Midget Wrestling II are presented by 95 SX.

Friday, 7:05 pm: Force Protection Industries Red Shirt Friday / Friday Night Post-Game Fireworks Fridays is another Force Protection Red Shirt Friday so wear a red shirt and get a dollar off a walk-up ticket price. Fans then have the option to donate that dollar to a military family with parents fighting overseas. This is the final Red Shirt Friday, and the RiverDogs will auction off the red jerseys worn by the players all season during the game with winners receiving the opportunity to go on the field and receive the jersey off the players' back with the proceeds benefiting local military families. Concluding every Friday night game at The Joe fans will enjoy a spectacular pyrotechnic display with post-game fireworks. Also, it'll be Ed Randall's Bat For the Cure! with free blood screenings. Force Protection Industries Red Shirt Friday / Friday Night Post-Game Fireworks / Free Prostate Exams are presented by Gene Reed Toyota, Force Protection Industries Inc. and 103.5 FM WEZL.

Saturday, 7:05 pm: Paint-It-Yourself Bobblehead Giveaway

Come to The Joe for the Paint-It-Yourself Bobblehead giveaway as the first 1,000 fans receive a free, plain bobblehead and a set of paints to decorate their player in their favorite team colors. This is a tribute to the late Andy Nelson, who was the team's artist. It's also the RiverDogs' Fancaster of the Year Night, as the nine finalists who qualified at O'Malley's Bar & Grille during the season will have the opportunity to broadcast an inning of action from the press box during the game. The Paint-it-Yourself Bobblehead Giveaway is presented by WCSC-TV 5.

Sunday, 5:05 pm: Family Sunday

Sunday at The Joe always means the stadium is packed with family fun, starting with free parking and kids 12-under eat free in addition to face painting and inflatables on the concourse, Reading with the RiverDogs and families playing catch in the outfield prior to the game. Plus, Charlie T. RiverDog, Chelsea and Bark, the club's three mascots, will be available prior to the game for pictures and autographs, while Charlie and the RiverDogs players will sign autographs after the game. Family Sunday is presented by the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission and Star 99.7 FM.

Monday, 6:05 pm: Fan Appreciation Night

The season finale is SC Blue Store Fan Appreciation Night and the RiverDogs will show their thanks for loyal fan support by giving away prizes, jerseys, baseball memorabilia and more. Prior to the game, fans will receive a free stadium cup as they enter the gates, courtesy of SC Blue Store, and one lucky fan will receive an IPod Touch during the game. The RiverDogs cap off the season finale with fireworks. And as is the tradition, Monday is also a Dogs With A Cause Night where the RiverDogs team with a local non-profit organization. Monday, the Ronald McDonald House will be raising money and awareness for their cause. Also, after the game, the T. Ashton Phillips Distinguished Community Service Award will be presented as will the Molly Maid Clean Sweep Inning check presentation which is a $5 donation for every 1-2-3 inning the RiverDogs' defense recorded at home games this season. And after the game and prior to the fireworks, the RiverDogs will announce the Gameday Staff member of the Year who receives a cash prize as part of the Golden Pin Employee Rewards Program.
