St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN (June 15, 2011) - Alberto Rolon has firmly entrenched himself in the starting rotation and proved it again in game one of the double header on Wednesday night as he threw a complete game five hit shutout and the St. Paul Saints defeated the Lincoln Saltdogs 4-0 at Midway Stadium.
Making just his third start of the season after beginning the season in the bullpen, Rolon needed just 76 pitches in the 7.0 innings contest, 54 strikes, while not walking anyone and striking out six as he improved to 4-0 on the season. He didn't allow a runner to second base until the sixth inning when he gave up a two out double to Blake Gailen. In the seventh he gave up back-to-back bloop singles, but ended the game with a double play.
The Saints got all the runs they would need in the first when Justin Snyder doubled to left and scored on a double from Shane Costa to make it 1-0.
The Saints added three insurance runs in the fifth when Jonathan Van Every led off with a walk. Adam Frost laid down a sacrifice bunt, but catcher Robby Alcombrack's throw to second wasn't in time and the Saints had runners at first and second. Justin Snyder then laid down a bunt and pitcher Lindsay Gulin's throw to first went by the second baseman, who was covering first, which allowed Van Every to score making it 2-0. Shane Costa then doubled home to for the final runs of the game. Costa went 2-3 with two doubles and three RBI.
