St. Paul 4, Lincoln 0 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

St. Paul starting pitcher Alberto Rolon's scoreless seven innings pitched and DH Shane Costa's three RBIs led the Saints to a 4-0 win against Lincoln in game one of a doubleheader. Rolon struck out six hitters and allowed only five hits to earn the win and improve to a 4-0 record on the season. Costa doubled twice in three at-bats. For the Saltdogs, CF Blake Gailen and LF Jorge Cortes each had two hits in a losing effort.

Lincoln 3, St. Paul 0 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)

Lincoln scored all three of their runs in the top of the sixth as they blanked the Saints for a 3-0 win to earn a split in the doubleheader. Saltdogs 3B Brandon Jones started the scoring with an RBI single that plated SS Kevin Rios. Right fielder Curt Smith then drove in Jones and CF Blake Gailen with a single to give the Saltdogs a 3-0 lead. Lincoln starting pitcher John James earned the win, improving to 5-1 on the season. James tossed a scoreless six and two-thirds innings, striking out three hitters and allowing just four hits. PJ Zocchi faced just one hitter, inducing a pop fly to end the game and earn the save.

Shreveport-Bossier 8, Wichita 0

Shreveport-Bossier southpaw Ryan DiPietro blanked Wichita in his eight innings pitched and received plenty of run support as the Captains earned an 8-0 win against the Wingnuts. DiPietro fanned four Wichita hitters and allowed just two hits in his eight innings of work. Captains LF Alex Cowart drove in two runs with a triple in the second inning, and SS Bryan Frichter belted a two-run home run in the seventh frame. Captains RF Bryan Sabatella doubled in a run, and 2B Mike Provencher went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. For Wichita, DH Josh Workman had two of his team's three hits on the night.

Sioux City 6, Kansas City 5

Trailing 5-3 going into the bottom of the ninth, Sioux City rallied to score three runs to narrowly defeat Kansas City 6-5. Explorers RF Derek Schermerhorn tied the game with a two-run single, and then with the bases loaded, 1B Kent Sakamoto drew a game-winning walk which plated CF Dustin Jones to win it for Sioux City. Schermerhorn went 4-for-4 from the plate and scored twice in addition to his two RBIs. Sakamoto had two hits in four at-bats and collected two RBIs on the night. Despite allowing three earned runs in one and one-third innings pitched, Sioux City pitcher Eddie Delacruz earned the win. For the T-Bones, 2B Fernando Garcia had two hits in four at-bats and batted in two runs.

Grand Prairie 8, Fort Worth 1

AirHogs 1B Greg Porter batted in four runs, including a three-run homer, as Grand Prairie dispatched of Fort Worth by a score of 8-1. Porter had three hits in five at-bats on the night. Grand Prairie LF David Thomas tripled in two runs in the top of the ninth, finishing the game 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs. AirHogs starting pitcher Jason Jennings turned in a dominant pitching performance to earn the win, improving to 4-1 on the season. Jennings struck out ten batters and allowed just one run on three hits in his seven innings pitched.

Amarillo 9, El Paso 8

Trailing 4-1, the Amarillo Sox scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead them past the El Paso Diablos 9-8. Sox CF Fehlandt Lentini and DH Tim Alberts each collected two RBIs in the game. Third baseman Van Pope and 1B Chris Nash each belted solo homers for Amarillo, and SS Jason White went 3-for-4 from the plate with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Starting pitcher Matt Elliott earned the win, and Sox pitcher Gary Perinar recorded the final two outs to earn the save. For the Diablos, RF Stephen Douglas, 1B Kyle Nichols and LF Chad Gabriel each batted in two runs in a losing effort.
