Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA, PA - A tough first inning hurt the Curve again as Altoona fell in a four run hole early and could not climb out, falling to the Erie SeaWolves 5-2 on Friday at Blair County Ballpark.
Erie got on the board in the top half of the first loading the bases with their first four batters before Jeff Frazier hit bases clearing double to left center which was followed by an RBI double by Brennan Boesch to give the SeaWolves a 4-0 lead before the Curve could swing the bat.
Erie added to their lead in the fourth on an RBI double by Max Leon.
The Curve got on the board with back to back two out doubles, first by left fielder Jason Delaney, then an RBI double by Brad Corley to trim the deficit to 5-1. Altoona would plate another in the eighth inning on a single by Jonel Pacheco.
Curve starter Daniel Moskos (1-2) would calm down after the rough first inning throwing six innings with his final five innings allowing just one run on four hits. Moskos wound up retiring the final eight batters he faced.
Erie got another strong start from Brooks Brown (3-0) who threw seven innings giving up two runs on seven hits.
Steve Lerud continued his offensive surge with his third consecutive multi-hit game going 2-for-4 with a double.
Altoona (6-15) will look to avoid back-to-back losses Saturday as lefty Tony Watson (0-2, 8.10) takes the mound. Erie (12-8) will throw right hander Luis Marte (1-2, 3.57).
First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. with radio coverage beginning at 4:35 on flagship station ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network. After Saturday's ballgame a spectacular fireworks display will take place. The fireworks are presented by Forney Financial Solutions.
Great seats are still available and can be obtained by calling 877-99-CURVE, online at AltoonaCurve.com or in person at the Blair County Ballpark box office.
