Freddie Bynum joins the Sens

The Harrisburg Senators in conjunction with the Washington Nationals have announced that infielder Freddie Bynum has joined the Senators from AAA Syracuse.

Bynum had appeared in three games with Syracuse, going 3 x 8 with a home run and three runs driven in.

The Nationals signed him as a minor-league free agent on 11/14/08 after playing in the Orioles organization the past two seasons. He appeared in eight games in spring training with the Nats going 1 x 11 with an RBI.

He was originally selected in the second round of the 2000 draft by the Oakland. Prior to this season, he had played in a total of 188 major league games between 2005 and 2008, including 40 games with Baltimore last season. He is a career .234 hitter in the big leagues.
