Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in the third game of a four-game series at Dunn Tire Park (1:05 p.m.). The Herd has won the first two games of the series, including an 8-7 victory last night in 10 innings. Buffalo is now 3-3 on this eight-game homestand following a series defeat to the Columbus Clippers. On the mound for the Herd today will be RHP Dan Reichert. The veteran made his Bisons debut on Saturday but fell in defeat to Columbus. The Red Wings will counter with LHP Francisco Liriano.
AMAZING RALLY: The Bisons hope to build off the momentum from last night as the Herd scored six runs in the ninth inning and two more in the 10th to win 8-7 over Rochester. Buffalo had six hits in the ninth, including a pinch-hit RBI-double from OF Jason Cooper and the game-tying RBI-single from INF Josh Barfield with two outs. Back-to-back bases-loaded RBI-singles from INF Aaron Herr and OF Brad Snyder in the 10th inning gave the Bisons the game-winning runs. All told, Buffalo erased a 6-0 deficit by scoring eight runs on nine hits in just over an inning of work.
DEJA VU: The Bisons rally last night came nearly 13 months to the day after the team's greatest comeback. On May 5, 2007 the Herd rallied from 14-6 down in the ninth inning to defeat Pawtucket, 15-14. Three Bisons played in both games: OF Jason Cooper , OF Brad Snyder and RHP Jeff Harris. Harris started both games on the mound for Buffalo.
B-RAD SYNDER: OF Brad Snyder has seven multi-hit games in his last eight starts. During the stretch, Snyder has posted 16 hits in 31 at-bats, good for a .516 batting average. His two hits last night were huge as he had an RBI-single in the ninth and the walk-off RBI-single in the 10th inning. Since May 23, Snyder has raised his batting average 59 points from .203 to .262.
BISONS BITS: The Bisons (6-7) now trail the Syracuse Chiefs (10-5) by three games in the 2008 Thruway Series standings...Last night, OF Jason Cooper made just the second pinch hit at-bat for a Bison this year. He hit an RBI-double in the 9th inning. The Bisons scored six runs in an inning for only the second time this season and first since Opening Day, April 3 in Norfolk...RHP Brian Slocum and RHP Rick Bauer were both promoted to Cleveland prior to last night's game.
