Durham Bulls News Release

DURHAM, NC-It was a pitchers' duel for the first six innings Thursday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, but the Bulls' three-run seventh inning proved to be the game's decisive frame as Durham held on for a 3-0 victory over Richmond.

Niemann rebounded from his worst start of the year--Saturday against Pawtucket-to pitch six solid innings and strike out 10 Braves, allowing only five hits on the evening. The relief tandem of Juan Salas (2-2, 3.38) and Scott Dohmann picked up where he left off, allowing only one hit between them over the final three innings. Dohmann earned his second save of the year for Durham.

Damian Moss (2-5, 3.94) allowed only four hits over 6.1 innings, but he allowed an Andy Cannizaro single to start the seventh. Vladimir Nunez came on and allowed a single to Joel Guzman before Reid Brignac hit a two-run double to get the Bulls on the board. Durham added another run on Hector Gimenez's single.

The Bulls will go for the series split against the Braves Friday at 7:05 p.m. at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Mitch Talbot (5-3, 3.80) will start for Durham, and he will oppose Richmond's Brad Nelson (1-2, 9.88).
