Durham, NC - The Durham Bulls beat the Richmond Braves 3-0 Thursday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Bulls Jeff Nieman struck out 10 in six innings to lead Durham past the Braves and back into first place in the South Division.
The game was scoreless into the bottom of the seventh inning when Durham erupted for three runs. Reid Brignac put the Bulls on the board with a two-run double. He scored on a Hector Gimenez single to cap the rally.
Nieman earned the win. Scott Dohmann notched a save. Damian Moss struck out seven and allowed just one run in 6.1 innings but took the loss. Brignac and Joel Guzman had two hits for the Bulls. Scott Thorman and Reggie Taylor had two hits for the Braves.
The Braves and Bulls close the series Friday at 7:05 PM at DBA Park. Brad Nelson will pitch for the Braves against Mitch Talbot. The Braves return to The Diamond to face Norfolk Saturday at 7 PM. For more information on Braves tickets please call 359-4444 or visit www.rbraves.com.
