Saskatoon Blades News Release
SASKATOON, SK - Tristen Robins gave the home crowd something extra to celebrate on Wednesday.
The San Jose Sharks prospect scored his second career hat-trick and lead-leading 19th point, helping the Saskatoon Blades extend their winning streak to five as they dominated the Moose Jaw Warriors 6-2.
Saskatoon improves to 7-1-1-0 on the season in a victory which saw nine different Blades find the scoresheet.
Brandon Lisowsky, along with alternate captains Kyle Crnkovic and Rhett Rhinehart also notched goals, while captain Aidan De La Gorgendiere came away with two assists in the win. Crnkovic matched Robins with a game-high four points.
Blades goaltender Nolan Maier collected his fourth straight win with 27 saves.
It's the third time Saskatoon has beaten the Warriors this season. Moose Jaw falls to 3-6-0-0 and have now lost four straight.
Saskatoon will try for a sixth straight win on Friday night in Lethbridge.
With the win, every fan in attendance receives a free ticket to the Blades next home game, as per the team's Winning Wednesday promotion.
Alternate captain Rhett Rhinehart opened the scoring in his first game back from injury just 5:04 into the first. After a missed shot from German import Moritz Elias, forward Josh Paulhus found Rhinehart on the blueline who made a great play passing to himself before going short side on Warriors netminder Brett Mirwald to put Blades up 1-0 after 20 minutes.
The floodgates completely opened in the second period, with Saskatoon erupting for five goals in the first 10 minutes of play.
It began with Robins' league-leading 16th point after a cross-ice feed from forward Kyle Crnkovic that slid through a mess of bodies in front. The Sharks second-rounder from 2020 one-timed his first of the night past Mirwald, putting the Blades up 2-0.
Less than 90 seconds later, Crnkovic notched his league-leading third short-handed marker of the season, beating his man one-on-one to put the Blades up 3-0.
Sophomore forward Brandon Lisowsky joined the scoring parade 1:10 later, going top right on the Warriors netminder to extend the Blades lead to 4-0.
Robins completed his hat-trick with back-to-back markers just 2:16 apart, which gave the Blades an insurmountable 6-0 lead. The pending WHL graduate ripped a one-timer top-shelf on Mirwald, ending the Warriors goaltenders night, and followed up with a nifty wrist-shot that slid through the wickets of reliever Carl Tetachuk.
The Moose Jaw Warriors collected two third period markers with goals from Saskatoon product Brandon Yager and Lucas Brenton.
With the win, Saskatoon remains in second place in the East Division, having scored at least four goals in seven straight games.
The Blades are off to Lethbridge where they'll take on the Hurricanes Friday night in the first game of a two-game road trip.
