October 28, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Winnipeg Ice News Release
Winnipeg, MB - The Winnipeg ICE and Kidsport Manitoba have partnered so that together, we can help more of Manitoba's kids experience the positive benefits of organized sports. Getting kids off the sidelines and into the game is a top priority for KidSport Manitoba.
KidSport Night - an interactive and informative night that's fun for the whole family - is taking place on Sunday, November 14, when the ICE take on the Saskatoon Blades presented by Taylor McCaffrey Lawyers.
Tickets for KidSport Night presented by Taylor McCaffrey Lawyers are now on sale and by using the promo code KIDSPORT a portion of your ticket purchase will go directly to KidSport Manitoba. Click Here for tickets.
When kids have access to sport they improve in school, become stronger leaders, create safer communities, ignite inclusivity, and fuel healthy habits for life. KidSport Night presented by Taylor McCaffrey Lawyers is all about increasing awareness of KidSport grants and raising funds so more of Manitoba's kids can participate in sport.
"We are incredibly excited and appreciative to partner with the Winnipeg ICE to raise funds and awareness for KidSport. They've brought creative ideas, resources, opportunities and enthusiasm to the table and we're confident this partnership will enable us to help more kids." - Rick McGregor, Chair, KidSport Manitoba Advisory Committee
"KidSport plays an important role in our community by providing opportunities for kids and their families to participate in organized sport when they otherwise couldn't. The Winnipeg ICE is proud to become an official KidSport Manitoba partner and we look forward to working together so all Manitoban kids have a chance to realize the tremendous benefits of sport." - Mack Heisinger, Head of Operations, Winnipeg ICE
With five chapters across the province, KidSport provides grants to help cover the costs of enrolment so that kids aged 18 and under can play a season of sport.
Since 2016, KidSport Manitoba has helped 4,245 kids from 165 communities participate in 54 different sports by providing $1,116,670 in registration fees.
Now that all sports are returning to play, applications are open and available on our website: https://kidsportcanada.ca/manitoba/provincial-fund/ The application deadline for all regions is the 15th of every month.
Value of Sport
There are many social and economic obstacles that can prevent young people from participating in organized sport. As we continue to develop programs to remove financial barriers and increase participation - like a new hockey camp coming next summer - we can see the powerful impact KidSport has on youth sport participation in our province.
