ICE Win 3-2 in Calgary

October 28, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Winnipeg Ice News Release

Conor Geekie's fourth goal of the season at 16:06 of the third period led the Winnipeg ICE to a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen Wednesday night.

A short handed goal by Mikey Milne and a power play marker from Owen Pederson were the other ICE goals as they improve to a WHL best 11-0.

Winnipeg has now won the most consecutive games to open a WHL season since 2006 eclipsing the previous mark set by the 2014-15 Kelowna Rockets and 2006-07 Vancouver Giants at 10 games.

They will look to tie the WHL record Friday night in Edmonton of 12 games, currently held by the 1988-89 Swift Current Broncos. Swift Current won their first dozen games before losing in Saskatoon October 30, 1988.

Milne extended his league leading point scoring streak to 11 games (eight goals and nine assists for 17 points).

Skyler Bruce's assist on Pederson's goal extended his point scoring streak to seven games (three goals and five assists for eight points).

Daniel Hauser earned his sixth straight decision in goal making 27 saves.

Blake Heward and Sean Tschigerl replied for the Hitmen, as their record falls to 4-4.
