Rob Slaney and Richard Greenop Assigned to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the Marlies have assigned forwards Rob Slaney and Richard Greenop to the Royals.

Last season, Slaney (6'2/209) (21), who hails from Upper Island Cove, New Foundland, registered six assists and fifteen penalty minutes in thirty-four games with the Marlies. He also scored a goal and picked up ten assists (eleven points) and twenty-two penalty minutes in twenty-two games with the Royals. Slaney, who led the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with thirty-six goals and eighty-one points in 2008-09, was the QMJHL Academic Player of the Year in 2007-08.

Greenop (6'4/237) (21), who hails from Oshawa, Ontario, scored two goals, assisted on three others (five points) and picked up 136 penalty minutes in forty-two games with the Marlies. He was a sixth round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Greenop, who racked up 499 total penalty minutes in 168 games over three seasons with the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL, was a member of the 2009 Spitfires who won the OHL regular season and playoff championships, as well as the Memorial Cup.

The Royals host the team's tenth anniversary home opener on Saturday, October 23, 2010 (7:05 pm), when the Elmira Jackals visit the Sovereign Center.
