
Thunder, Elmira Complete Transaction for Eizenman

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, has acquired future considerations from the Elmira Jackals in exchange for the rights to center Oren Eizenman (IZE-en-man), Thunder head coach Matt Thomas announced today.
"Oren's progress as a serious AHL prospect has opened doors for him professionally and we thank him for his contributions," said Thomas. "Making this transaction was in the spirit of development. His American Hockey League contract allows mor e of a seamless transition geographically within the farm system of the Anaheim Ducks."
Elmira, who is the ECHL affiliate of the Ducks, acquires the rights to Eizenman after he signed a contract with their AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, on June 1, 2010.
The Toronto native leaves the Thunder after ranking third on the team in points (59) and second in assists (38) last season, additionally scoring 21 goals in 61 regular season games. He led the team in playoff scoring with 19 points (3g-16a) in 15 games.
In 174 career pro games in the ECHL with Stockton and Fresno and in the AHL with Milwaukee, Worcester, Manitoba and San Antonio, Eizenman has scored 148 points (53g-95a) in 174 career games and has totaled 25 points (7g-18a) in 25 playoff games.
OPENING NIGHT AND TICKET INFORMATION
Opening Night is Friday, Oct. 15, when the Thunder opens the 2010-11 regular season at home against the Ontario Reign, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Stockton Arena (1280 AM KWSX/StocktonThunder.com). The Thunder and Ontario Reign square off in the only preseason game at Stockton Arena tonight at 7:30 p.m.
A two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine, led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew over 200,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season in 2009-10.
