Kalamazoo Starts Preseason with a 9-1 Victory Over Toledo
October 8, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings started the preseason the same way they ended last year's regular season, defeating the Toledo Walleye at Wings Stadium. Kalamazoo struck early and often to skate away to a 9-1 victory Friday night.
Chopping at the bit to start to play someone other than themselves, the K-Wings exploded for three goals in the opening period. Darryl Lloyd (1st) commenced the scoring half way through the first period with a rebound tally that was created off a rebound from a blast from the stick of Corey Syvret.
Two minutes later, the K-Wings pounced again, this time it was Trent Daavettila (1st) that knocked in a second chance opportunity to extend the lead.
Jordan Fulton (1st) pushed the K-Wings lead to three goals with a redirect marker to conclude the scoring in the period.
Not even a penalty could slow down the K-Wings offensive barrage. In the second period, Daavettila (1st) propelled Kalamazoo to a four-goal advantage finishing off a two-on-one pass for a shorthanded tally.
Toledo earned their lone goal of the night midway through the second period with a marker from Andy Bohmback (1st), but that proved to be a small bump in the road for the K-Wings.
Kalamazoo answered the Walleye's tally, with a goal of their own, 1:31 later, from John-Scott Dickson (1st).
The K-Wings poured on the offense in the final 20 minutes of action tacking on four more goals, including three on the power-play. Dickson (2nd, 3rd) would contribute with two of those goals, to conclude the night with a hat trick.
