Rivermen Set Opening Roster Against Archrival Dayton

Peoria, Ill. (October 22, 2004) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that the team will open its 2004-2005 season tonight against the archrival Dayton Bombers with 21 players – 19 skaters and two goaltenders.

There are nine Rivermen returnees, including centers Trevor Baker and Tyler Rennette; left wings Randy Rowe, Igor Valeev, David Kaczowka, Scott Turner and Garett Cameron; right wing Joe Pereira and defenseman Chad Starling. There are eight rookies, including forwards Travis Rycroft and Troy Riddle; left wings Justin Maiser, Kris Kasper and Cameron; defensemen Patrick Wellar, Dan Rohanna and Brian Escobedo. Newcomers include: goaltenders include six-year veteran Alfie Michaud and rookie Chris Beckford-Tseu; defensemen Warren Toews and Bryce Charpentier; and three-time ECHL All-Star left wing Brian McCullough.

The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL – America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. Peoria opens its ninth season in the 28-team league tonight – Friday, October 22, 2004, when they host the archrival Dayton Bombers at Carver Arena.
