Pride Tip Bullies 3-2 On Opening Night

Florence, SC – Brian Collins scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal at 7:04 of the third period to give the Pee Dee Pride a 3-2 victory over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies before 4840 at the Florence City-County Civic Center in ECHL action on Friday.

Pee Dee opened the scoring at 12:29 of the first period when Kyle Kidney slapped Darryl Green's rebound by Bullies goaltender Jake Moreland for a 1-0 lead. The Bullies would counter with two goals in a span of 14 seconds to take a 2-1 lead. First, Brad Both redirected Eric Nelson's shot past Pee Dee goaltender Sebastien Laplante at 5:58 of the second period to tie the score at 1-1. Brett Nowak gave the Bullies a 2-1 lead just 14 seconds later when he took a cross-ice feed from Luke Curtin at the right-wing circle and fired a shot past Laplante at 6:12. Pee Dee would come back with the equalizer at 16:21 of the second as Kidney netted his second goal of the night with a shot past Adam Munro in replace of Jake Moreland from the right wing circle to tie the game 2-2 after two periods. Pee Dee out-shot the Bullies 28-23. Atlantic City went 0-4 on the power play.

The Bullies head to the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC tomorrow to battle the Greenville Grrrowl at 7:05PM. Opening Weekend 2004 in Atlantic City commences at 7:05PM on Friday, October 29 when the Bullies host the Trenton Titans at Historic Boardwalk Hall.
