October 22, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release

The Dayton Bombers of the ECHL announced on Thursday the addition of (G) MIKE AYERS and (D) CLAY PLUME to the roster. Both players signed ECHL contracts with the Bombers, and will be available for the regular season opener against the Peoria Rivermen at the Peoria Civic Center tomorrow (Friday) night at 7:30 PM.

AYERS was acquired from the Charlotte Checkers (ECHL) in a trade for cash, while PLUME was claimed off waivers from the Checkers.

Ayers finished his collegiate career at the University of New Hampshire last season, and is looking forward to starting his rookie season in the ECHL. "It's a great feeling knowing your services are desired, and I'm happy to have a place to play", said Ayers, who was originally selected in the 6th round (177th overall) of the 2000 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Chicago Black Hawks.

The 24 year old Massachusettes native set single-season school records for wins (27), saves (1,139) and shutouts (7) during his junior season at UNH in 2002-2003. He was also named the USA College Hockey Player of the Year and a Second Team All-American in 2003.

"He's a great kid who comes to Dayton with great credentials", said Bombers GM and Head Coach DON MacADAM. "There's no question he'll help our team while getting the development he needs to further his career."

The Dayton Bombers are the proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets and a member of the ECHL - America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Dayton Bombers home opener is October 29th at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. Season ticket packages for the 2004-05 season are available by calling the Bombers' office at 937-775-4747.
