FLORENCE, SC -- Brian Collins scored the game-winning goal 7:04 into the third period as the Pee Dee Pride defeated the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bulles 3-2 in the season opener Friday night at the Florence Civic Center. The attendance of 4,841 was the Pride's largest since March 22, 2003.
Kyle Kidney had the only goal of the opening period, beeating Bullies goaltender Jake Moreland 12:29 into the opening period.
Atlantic City went ahead with two goals just 14 seconds apart in the second period.
Kidney's second goal of the night at 16:21 of the second tied it up.
Sebastien Laplante made 21 saves for the win.
Opening Weekend 2004 continues tomorrow night as the Pride host the Augusta Lynx at 7:30. The first 2,500 fans in attendance receive a 2004-2005 magnetic schedule from SCE&G. Following the game, Archadeck of the Pee Dee, BB&T, Griggs-Floyd & Grantham, and Micky Finn's present the Blue Dogs in concert.
