Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC- Continuous rain at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park led to the postponement of Monday's series opener between the Charleston RiverDogs and the Savannah Sand Gnats. This series will begin on Tuesday with a doubleheader that is scheduled to start at 6:05pm.
Tickets for Monday's contest may be exchanged at the Riley Park Box Office to any remaining RiverDogs home game in 2014. The doubleheader on Tuesday consists of two seven-inning contests. Video and audio coverage will start on www.riverdogs.com shortly before the 6:05pm first pitch with 1250 WTMA picking up the radio broadcast at 7pm.
BALLPARK FUN: Fans who waited through the delay still enjoyed Dollar Dogs and Beers Night in the Ashley View Pub, sponsored by Coors and Magic 107.3. Rain delay entertainment included video board airings of the popular show Sport Science, featuring segments on the force of running into an outfield wall and the physics of pitching with a Wiffle ball compared to a baseball.
COMING UP: The RiverDogs and the Sand Gnats will start a Tuesday doubleheader at 6:05pm. The projected pitchers are Charleston LHP Omar Luis (2-2, 6.04 ERA) and LHP Caleb Smith (4-6, 3.53 ERA) to face Savannah RHP Ricky Knapp (2-4, 3.73 ERA) and LHP Dario Alvarez (4-0, 1.21 ERA), respectively. On Harris Teeter 2-for-$20 Date Night Tuesday, presented by Nash FM, any couple that shows a VIC Card at the box office will receive two tickets to the game, two tacos, two fountain drinks, and a nacho tray or just $20.Tickets may be purchased at the Riley Park Box Office, (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or on-line at www.riverdogs.com.
