Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

Salisbury, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds defeated the West Virginia Power, 5-1 on Monday night in their series opener. Hunter Harvey contributed another quality start, while Dylan Rheault backed up the starter with three scoreless innings in relief. Delmarva (42-32) has now won four of the first five games of the second half.

The scoring started early for Delmarva with a string of two-out base knocks in the first inning. Drew Dosch, Creede Simpson and Chance Sisco racked up three consecutive singles, with Sisco's base hit bringing home two runs.

The Power halved the Shorebirds' lead with a run in the second inning. Chris Diaz singled in Erich Weiss with two outs to make it a 2-1 game.

Hunter Harvey put to rest any concerns about his form before the All-Star break. After back-to-back outings in which he allowed five or more runs, Harvey allowed just one run in six innings. At one point, the right-hander retired nine in a row, recording seven strikeouts on the evening.

Delmarva added to their lead with a run in the fifth inning, and two more in the sixth. Shorebirds catcher Chance Sisco finished the night with three singles, two RBIs and a run scored.

After Harvey's quality start, Dylan Rheault pitched three scorless innings for a nine-out save, his third of the season. Harvey improved to 4-4 with the victory, while Dovydas Neverauskas took a loss despite pitching effectively for West Virginia.

The Shorebirds and Power continue their series on Tuesday evening. Right-hander Luc Rennie (2-6, 6.25) will start for Delmarva against right-hander Buddy Borden (3-5, 3.48) for West Virginia. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm at Perdue Stadium.
