Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs' "Be Your Own Fan" mantra heads to the links as the New York Yankees' Class A affiliate hosts their 5th Annual "Fun Is Good" Golf Tournament on Tuesday, May 11, at Wild Dunes Resort. The event is sponsored by Parks Auto Parts and benefits the Medical University of South Carolina's Storm Eye Institute.
This 1 pm shotgun start with a four-man Captain's Choice format isn't a typical golf outing. Director of Fun Bill Murray's assortment of movie themes will put a RiverDogs twist on nine of the holes.
At the fun holes, there will be opportunities to enjoy a unique visit from the Ghost of Christmas Past, purchase mulligan's courtesy of Ground Hog Day and try your luck hitting golf balls while dressed like one of Charlie's Angels.
"Who isn't a fan of fun!," said Events Director Melissa McCants. "This tournament not only offers a day of good fun and entertainment but it also provides an afternoon of business networking while raising funds for the prevention of blindness."
Prizes will be provided for first, second and third places, and in typical RiverDogs fashion, there will also be prizes given for last place.
The $500/team entry fee includes green and cart fees, range balls, unlimited beverages, lunch provided by Bojangles, awards ceremony and dinner courtesy of Carrabbas Italian Grill. RiverDogs Coaches and current RiverDogs players will be among those golfing.
Individuals can join in on the action for $125, and for $350 any local business can become a hole sponsor. For registration or additional information, please contact McCants at 843/723-7241 or log on to www.riverdogs.com.
