
Legends Take Series Finale in Greenville, 14-7

The Lexington Legends pounded out 20 hits, including three home runs, and defeated the Greenville Drive 14-7 Tuesday night in Greenville. The Legends scored three times in the first inning, four in the second and three more in the third for a 10-0 lead. J.D. Martinez hit a two-run homer in the first inning, Kody Hinze added a three-run shot in the second, and Jose Altuve hit his first home run of the year with the bases empty in the third. Three Greenville errors in the first three innings helped the Legends cause.
The Drive came back with a run in the third, four in the fourth capped by a two-run double by Wilfred Pichardo, and added another run in the sixth to cut the lead to 10-6. But the Legends erupted for four more runs in the seventh inning.
Martinez was 5-for-6 with 3 RBI's. HInze had a single and a double in addition to his homer, and he drove in five runs to take the South Atlantic League lead with 24. Jake Goebbert had a single,double and triple for the Legends.
Wander Alvino (1-0) was the winning pitcher. Greenville starter Ryan Pressly (0-1) was the loser.
The Legends will open a four-game series in Savannah against the Sand Gnats with a 7:05 p.m. game Wednesday.
