Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Kannapolis Intimidators, the Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, will announce a partnership with Dale Earnhardt Incorporated and will together celebrate the late NASCAR legend's birthday on Thursday, April 29th with a presentation and car unveiling ceremony beginning at 5:45 pm at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. The car will be a permanent addition to the area in front of the main gate of Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium and the unveiling will come just hours after a special announcement and unveiling at JR Motorsports.
A native of Kannapolis, NC, Dale Earnhardt, even in his passing, has a great presence in the town he once called home. Earnhardt became a part-owner of the team formerly known as the Piedmont Boll Weevils in November of 2000 and the team was re-named to honor the "Intimidator" and his hometown. On Thursday, members of the Earnhardt family will be on hand to help celebrate his birthday with a pre-game ceremony, which will include the unveiling of a Dale Earnhardt Number 3 car which will remain outside the front of the stadium and become a permanent fixture in front of Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
The car will be a full-sized #3 stockcar, much like the one Earnhardt made famous throughout his illustrious career in NASCAR. The car will be the main attraction for a "Winner's Circle" which will be located in front of the stadium. This will be a perfect area for Earnhardt, NASCAR and baseball fans alike to take pictures and to remember the life and career of Earnhardt.
Dale Earnhardt will be among the first five drivers inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame which will open its doors for the first time on May 11th in Charlotte, NC. Earnhardt will be formally inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame on May 23rd in a ceremony at the Charlotte Convention Center.
Fans who attend the game on Thursday, April 29th, wearing any type of Dale Earnhardt Sr. memorabilia will be eligible for a $5 reserved ticket to the game that night at the Intimidators Ticket Office. In addition to the Earnhardt celebration, Thursdays are Thirsty Thursdays presented by Fatz Café which includes food and drink specials.
The Intimidators are enjoying their 16th season of play as an organization. This organization has produced such talents as Jimmy Rollins, Gordon Beckham and NFL star Ricky Williams.
