Savannah, GA - This Saturday, May 1, the Savannah Sand Gnats will host their first annual Hometown Heroes Day in conjunction with the Savannah Chatham Municipal Police Department (SCMPD) at Historic Grayson Stadium. Hometown Heroes Day is a free event that will honor the work of law enforcement, first responders and our military in our community and entertain and educate fans, focusing on the technology they deploy to achieve their mission to keep our community safe everyday.

Home Town Heroes Day will feature: three helicopter landings, one each from the Coast Guard, SCMPD and Omniflight, Bomb Squad and K9 unit demonstrations, representatives from all of the area police forces, and representatives from Hunter Army Airfield and the Marine Corps.

The Sand Gnats will provide free food, kids activities and live entertainment. Every person who attends Hometown Heroes Day at Historic Grayson Stadium will receive a FREE ticket to the Savannah Sand Gnats game against the Lexington Legends, Saturday night, May 1, at 6:05. The Saturday Night Live pregame music presented by Live Wire Music Hall begins when gates open at 4:30, and fireworks presented by KIX 96 will follow the game. Also, the first 800 fans through the gates on Saturday night will receive a free gift from TAKE 25. Take 25, a preventative child safety campaign created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), encourages parents, guardians, educators and others to take 25 minutes to talk to children about safety.
