River Rats Loan Goaltender Mike Morrison To Utah

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that goaltender Mike Morrison has been assigned to Utah of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).

Morrison, 30, posted a 6-5-1 record with 3.30 goals against average and a 0.892 save percentage in 14 appearances with the River Rats this season. The Medford, MA, native also shows a 9-10-2 record with a 2.89 GAA and a 0.899 save percentage through 22 games this season with the ECHL's Florida Everblades.

Morrison (6'3", 202 lbs.) split last season between the Austrian Hockey League's Ljubljana Olimpija HK (24 games) and the Swedish Elite League's Modo Hockey Ornskoldsvik(13 games). Originally selected in the seventh round (186th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers, Morrison turned pro in 2002 after completing a four-year collegiate career at the University of Maine. He has appeared in 29 National Hockey League contests with Ottawa, Phoenix and Edmonton, compiling an 11-7-3 record with a 4.14 goals against average and an .850 save percentage. Morrison signed a one year, two-way AHL/ECHL contract with Albany on August 11, 2009.
