TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Harrisburg Senators will meet in game two of a four-game series...Johnny Monell launched a three-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning and the Flying Squirrels walked off a winner for the third time this season as Richmond topped Harrisburg 6-3 in the series opener on Thursday night in front of 4,894 fans at The Diamond

NIGHT OWLS: The Flying Squirrels played their Eastern League-leading seventh extra-inning game of the season last night...Richmond improved in 4-3 in the extra frames with the 6-3, walk-off win...At four hours and two minutes, it was the third-longest game of the season for the club...Only two of Richmond's 141 games last season lasted over four hours...The Flying Squirrels' first 34 games have lasted an average of two hours and 49 minutes.

ERA OF EXCESS: The Flying Squirrels recorded a season-high 14 hits in last night's 11-inning win over the Senators...The club also matched a season-high by stranding 14 runners on base.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Flying Squirrels improved to 12-6 at The Diamond and their .667 winning percentage at home is second-highest in the league trailing only the Trenton Thunder (.722, 13-5)...The club is 4-12 on the road and its .250 winning percentage on the road is second-lowest in the Eastern League ahead of only the Portland Sea Dogs (.188, 3-13)...Richmond is batting .196 (107-for-545) on the road and is averaging 3.00 runs per game (48R/16G) in 16 contests; meanwhile, the Flying Squirrels are batting .250 (154-for-616) in 18 games at The Diamond while averaging 4.28 runs per game at home (77R/18G).

HERE'S JOHNNY: Catcher Johnny Monell matched a career high and set a Flying Squirrels season high going 4-for-5 last night including a double, a home run and three runs driven in...Monell's eight total bases last night were also a season high for a Richmond batter...It was the fourth career four-hit game for the 25-year-old and the first for a Flying Squirrels batter since Conor Gillaspie 9/2/10 at Erie...Monell's walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning was the second walk-off blast in the club's two-year franchise history...Brandon Belt hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 14th inning 8/11/10 against New Hampshire.

THE GEORGIA PEACH: Second baseman Charlie Culberson has hits in each of his last nine games, his longest hit streak of the season...The 22-year-old is 12-for-36 (.333) with a double, three RBIs and five runs scored over his last nine games...He has struck out just nine times in 48 at-bats (19%) this month after striking out 22 times in 93 at-bats (24%) in April...Culberson leads the Eastern League with 141 at-bats and is tied for fourth in hits (41), having appeared in all 34 games for Richmond this season.

BOOK 'EM DAN-O: Right-hander Dan Otero has tossed 14 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings over his last eight appearances, the second-longest scoreless streak of the season for a Flying Squirrels pitcher...The 26-year-old has struck out 17 batters and walked none while holding opponents to a .208 (11-for-53) average against over the course of the streak.

PITCHING IN: The Flying Squirrels pitching staff leads the Eastern League with a 2.91 ERA through 34 games and the club ranks third in the league with 281 strikeouts. The pitching staff has logged a league-high 315 2/3 innings of work, 16 1/3 more innings than the Trenton Thunder who ranks second in innings pitched.
