
Adams, Espino Combine To Toss Three-hit Shutout As Aeros Down Baysox

BOWIE, MD - Right-handed pitchers Austin Adams and Paolo Espino combined to throw a three-hit shutout as the Akron Aeros beat the Bowie Baysox 4-0 in game two of a four-game series Friday at Prince George's Stadium.
Adams got the win pitching five innings, giving up one hit, walking five and striking out six. Espino worked four innings of relief to record the save striking out six while walking none.
Right-handed pitcher Wynn Pelzer suffered the loss for the Baysox lasting 4.2 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits, walking four and striking out four.
The Aeros (16-19) got on the board in the top of the third inning. With one out, Jordan Henry reached on an error then stole second. The stolen base was Henry's second of the game and 14th of 2011. Juan Diaz advanced Henry to third on a single. Jared Goedert followed with an RBI double that scored Henry and gave the Aeros a 1-0 lead.
Akron added to their one-run lead in the top of the fifth inning. Henry led off the frame with a walk and scored on a Diaz RBI double. With two outs and a runner on first, John Drennen doubled to right field to score Goedert and give the Aeros a 3-0 lead.
The Aeros scored again in the top of the eighth inning and never looked back winning game two of this four game series.
The Aeros and Baysox (18-17) will continue their four-game series Saturday. Akron will give the ball to left-hander T.J. McFarland, who is 1-1 with a 7.16 ERA in 2011. He will face right-handed pitcher Steve Johnson, who is 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA this season. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. The game can be heard on Fox Sports 1350 AM or online at sportsradio1350.com.
