New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League had two player transactions today and each involves the return to the Connecticut club of a familiar player.

INF Steve Singleton, the 25-year-old San Diego State product who was advanced to Triple-A Rochester just last week, is rejoining the Rock Cats after having appeared in 8 games for the Red Wings in the International League. The left-handed hitter had an impact in Rochester as he departs New York after hitting .250 with 1 Double, 2 HRs and 7 RBI. The 6'0"/185-pound resident of Oakland, CA has played in New Britain for portions of three seasons; he returns to resume his 2011 Double-A stats that include a .284 BA with 11 Doubles, a total that placed him among the League leaders at the time of his promotion.

LHP Ryan Mullins, the 27-year-old veteran who has been rehabbing an arm injury, will join the Rock Cats tonight from Ft. Myers in the Florida State League. The 6'6"/202-pound southpaw - selected in the 3rd Round by Minnesota out of Vanderbilt University in 2005 - has made a total of 72 pitching appearances in New Britain over the course of three previous seasons (2007, 2008, and 2009). In 2008, the slender lefty was an Eastern League All-Star; in 2009 he led the Eastern League in Strike Outs with 133 (in 145 Total Innings). He arrives back in the Hardware City today after having made four appearances in Florida for the 2011 Miracle, in which he was 0-2 with an ERA of 8.64.

Both players will be in uniform tonight when the Rock Cats host Portland at 6:35 PM a New Britain Stadium.
