Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Carlos Silva has been added to the roster. The move brings the Thunder roster to its maximum of 24 active players.

Silva was signed by the New York Yankees to a minor league contract on April 10, 2011, after he was released by the Chicago Cubs in March. Since joining the Yankees organization, the righty from Venezuela has made two starts with the Advanced-A Tampa Yankees, going 0-0 with a 2.57 ERA.

In 21 appearances with the Chicago Cubs in 2010, Silva was 10-6 with a 4.22 ERA before missing most of the final two months of the season due to heart and elbow issues.

The Thunder continue their four-game series with the Binghamton Mets Friday night at 7:05 PM from Waterfront Park. LHP Kei Igawa (1-1, 2.95) will make his second start for Trenton after starting out the year in the Trenton bullpen. Igawa will face Binghamton's RHP Brad Holt (1-1, 2.59). All of the action can be heard on 91. 3 WTSR or online at trentonthunder.com.

The first 2,000 fans ages six and older to Friday's game will receive Phil Hughes Bobblehead Dolls thanks to The Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Trenton. Call 609-394-3300 or log on to trentonthunder.com for ticket information.
