Richie Lentz Joins Sea Dogs from Single-A Lancaster

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have placed Sea Dogs' left-handed reliever Carlos Vasquez on the disabled list. The Portland Sea Dogs received right-handed reliever Richie Lentz from Single-A Lancaster. Lentz will wear uniform # 26, he is the 38th player to wear a Sea Dogs uniform this season.

The 23-year old, Lentz, has appeared in 28 games for the JetHawks this season posting a 4-3 record with one save and a 2.87 ERA. He was named a California League All-Star and participated in the California League/ Carolina League All-Star game on June 24th. Lentz tossed one inning striking out two Carolina League All-Stars. Lentz is among the California League leaders with 77 strikeouts in 53.1 innings pitched. He has limited hitters to a .174 batting average against him. Lentz has not allowed a run in 13 of his last 14 appearances. Lentz is in his second season as a Boston Red Sox farmhand. He was a 19th round draft choice in 2006 out of the University of Washington

Vasquez has appeared in 14 games for the Sea Dogs this season posting a 1-1 record with one save and a 7.06 ERA. The 25 year old was signed as a minor league free agent by the Red Sox in March. He was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2000 by the Cubs.
