The Connecticut Defenders scored six times in the sixth for a 9-0 win over the Binghamton Mets at Dodd Stadium Wednesday...Daniel Murphy and Salomon Manriquez doubled and singles were recorded by Jose Coronado, Mike Carp and Caleb Stewart...B-Mets starter allowed three earned runs in 5+ innings for the loss...the B-Mets have dropped six of seven.

About Binghamton The B-Mets are hitting .154 (12 for 78) in the first three games of the series...Binghamton has not lost a road series since dropping two of three 5/27-29 @ POR, winning five straight series...7/3 @ ALT, Salvador Aguilar earned his league-leading 10th win, becoming the third pitcher in B-Mets history to win 10 games before the EL All-Star Break. Juan Castillo and Bill Pulsipher both accomplished the feat in 1994. No B-Mets pitcher has won more than 10 games before the break. The only B-Mets pitcher to finish the season as the EL leader in wins is Jesus Sanchez (13) in 1997...the B-Mets were 39-32 at the halfway point of the EL campaign, their first winning record after 71 games since 2004 (43-28).

About Connecticut The San Francisco Giants affiliate takes on Binghamton after taking three of four @ NB...Connecticut has won 10 of 12...the Defenders are last in the EL in hitting (.249), next-to-last in runs (375) and second in strikeouts (662)...Connecticut's pitching staff is second in ERA (3.15) and second in shutouts (11).

This ‘N That The B-Mets are 8-4 at Dodd Stadium this season...B-Mets position players Daniel Murphy, Mike Carp and Nick Evans and pitchers Bobby Parnell and Salvador Aguilar have been chosen for the EL All-Star Game 7/16 @ NH...Binghamton was a season-worst nine games under .500 after losing on 5/5. They are 38-23 since. During this stretch, B-Mets starters have lasted at least five innings in 52 of the 61 games, allowing 137 ER in 333 IP (3.70)...the B-Mets are in the middle of a stretch in which they will play 29 games in 28 days until the EL All-Star Break...Binghamton has lost three times when leading after eight innings (6/18 vs. ERI, 6/10 vs. HAR, 5/26 vs. REA). All three of Eddie Kunz's blown saves have come in those games...5/26 vs. REA, Daniel Murphy became the sixth B-Mets player with a three-homer game, joining Mike Jacobs (5/6/05 @ ERI), Aaron McNeal (6/2/02 vs. HAR), Rob Stratton (6/10/01 @ Norwich), Matt Raleigh (6/27/1997 @ POR) and Ramon Espinosa (6/20/1997 vs. BOW)...the NY Mets and Binghamton have extended their Player Development Contract through 2010.
