Rhodes Records 38-Save Shutout in 4-0 Win over Pee Dee

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl scored goals in each of the three periods, and DAMIAN RHODES recorded 38 saves for his first East Coast Hockey League shutout in a 4-0 win over the Pee Dee Pride in front of 5,739 at the BI-LO Center Saturday night.

CHRIS LYNCH opened the scoring at 12:41 of the first period when he gave the Grrrowl a 1-0 lead with his sixth goal in the last four games. Greenville made it 2-0 when TYLER DEIS turned defenseman Mike Torney inside-out, then beat goaltender Matt Underhill with a backhand shot at 14:00 of the second period. MIKE HENDERSON scored a pair of third period goals at 2:26 and 19:01 to cap the scoring.

It was the first time the Grrrowl won two games-in-a-row since January 19th and 24th. The Pee Dee Pride have lost 5 of their last 7 games, and 2 straight.

Goaltender DAMIAN RHODES recorded his first ECHL shutout stopping all 38 shots he faced. Rhodes is 2-0-0 with a 1.50 goals against average in his last 2 starts. The 33-year old veteran has 12 National Hockey League shutouts in 309 career games. During the 1996-97 season, he recorded 5 shutouts and a 2.34 GAA in 50 games with the NHLs Ottawa Senators.
