Wappingers Falls, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades regained their winning form on Saturday night, defeating the Tri-City ValleyCats 5-1 at Dutchess Stadium. Braxton Lee led the way for Hudson Valley at the dish, going two for four with a double, a triple and two runs batted in. He also scored two runs in the contest. The win improves Hudson Valley's record to 22-4 at home, and 39-16 overall.
Braxton Lee got Hudson Valley on the board first, leading off the bottom of the first inning with a standup triple. He advanced the final 90 feet on Coty Blanchard's RBI single. Lee's speed allowed Hudson Valley to take an early 1-0 lead.
After Tri-City tied the game 1-1 in the top half of the third, the Renegades moved in front for good in the bottom of the fifth inning. Bralin Jackson started the rally with a leadoff single, and Alec Sole soon followed with a single of his own to put two runners on for Braxton Lee. Lee came through for Hudson Valley, ripping a line drive inches inside the left-field line to plate both runners. Casey Gillaspie capped the rally, dunking a single into center-field to score Lee and push the Hudson Valley lead to 4-1.
Enderson Franco continued the string of excellent Hudson Valley starting pitching, throwing 6 innings with one unearned run on two hits while striking out three batters.
Bralin Jackson provided an insurance run for Hudson Valley in the seventh inning. The speedy outfielder led off the frame with a triple and scored the Renegades final run of the night on a Tri-City wild pitch.
Hudson Valley's bullpen pitched three scoreless innings to help shut the door. Trevor Dunlap fired a scoreless seventh inning in his only of action out of the bullpen. Mike Franco fanned four Tri-City batters in his two innings on the hill, helping preserve Hudson Valley's 22 nd home win.
