Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (18-3-1-3), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, outlasted the Thunder in a nine-round shootout against the Stockton Thunder (13-8-0-4) on Friday night before a crowd of 7,762 at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Jake Hauswirth scored the only shootout goal to lift the Reign over the Thunder in the longest shootout of the season.

The Reign got the first goal of the game with a beautiful shot off the stick of Hauswirth. At 16:06, Brett Beebe and Kyle Kraemer set up the play around the Thunder net. Kraemer got the puck out to Hauswirth who found an opening through the traffic and ripped a shot past the blocker of Brian Foster.

The Stockton Thunder went on the power play at 3:41 and scored moments later, at 4:04. Landon Oslanski's shot beat Michael Hutchinson five hole starting from a backdoor pass from Corey Trivino.

In the third period Jake Newton launched a one-timer from the right circle past Foster to give the Reign a 2-1 lead at the 11:00 mark. The pass came from Kraemer for his second assist of the night. With just 2:32 left in regulation, the Thunder scored with a point-shot from Ben Rosen to tie the game 2-2 forcing an overtime frame.

After their eleventh overtime this season went scoreless, the Reign shot first in the shootout. After five rounds, every shooter was denied. It wasn't until the ninth round that Hauswirth's wristshot beat Foster to win the game 3-2 in favor of Ontario.

Hutchinson earned his sixth straight overtime win with 29 saves; Foster took the loss with 28 saves.
