SF Bulls' Comeback Bid Falls Short in 6-3 Loss to Colorado

SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Bulls (9-13-2-1) couldn't complete the comeback, losing to the Colorado Eagles (15-6-3-1), 6-3, Friday night, at the Cow Palace. The Bulls trailed 5-0 and cut it to a 5-3 deficit, but couldn't get the next one. Dale Mitchell extended his point streak to six games with a goal.

The Eagles got on the board with two first period goals. Riley Nelson found the back of the net twice, first with 9:09 remaining, and then again with 7:42 left in the period. Kevin Ulanski (2), Jason Beatty, and Luke Fulghum registered assists. Through 20 minutes, Colorado held a 2-0 lead, and outshot the Bulls 9-8.

The second period saw a total of five tallies. The Eagles dominated the early going, notching three consecutive goals to take a 5-0 lead. Fulghum, Jonathan Parker, and Trent Daavettila scored. The fourth chased Tyler Beskorowany from the game in favor of J.P. Anderson. In the waning minutes, the Bulls pushed back. Jordan Morrison got San Francisco on the board, beating Adam Brown top shelf off of a rebound. The goal came with 2:24 left in the frame, and was assisted by Tyler Gron and Brett Findlay. Just 11 seconds later, Mitchell notched another, reducing the deficit to three. Steven Tarasuk and Kalvin Sagert had the assists on the goal. At the end of the second, the Eagles led 5-2. The Bulls led in shots, 26-23.

In the third, the comeback attempt continued. At 5:04, Gron reduced the deficit to two with his 12th goal of the season. He was assisted by Dean Ouellet and Adrian Foster. San Francisco kept applying the pressure, but the two goals would be as close as they would get. Arthur Bidwell scored a sixth goal on the power play with 27 seconds left to seal the win for the Eagles.
