ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, four-time Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, have announced that rookie defenseman Zach Bell has been assigned to the club from the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League, while goaltender Joe Cannata has been assigned to Ontario from the Utica Comets.

Bell, 21, made his professional debut last season with the Reign, after being assigned to the team and making its Opening Night roster. The 6-foot-2, 228-pound blueliner appeared in 14 games with Ontario, recording two assists and 20 penalty minutes, before returning to the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League to complete his junior career.

In 40 games for the Knights, Bell posted 17 points (3g, 14a) and 53 penalty minutes.

Prior to his pro debut, Bell had also played in the OHL for four seasons from 2009-13 with the Brampton Battalion (now North Bay Battalion), appearing in 234 games with the franchise, while scoring 65 points (17g, 48a) and racking up 253 penalty minutes.

Cannata, 24, spent the 2013-14 season with Utica, sporting an 11-12-1 record in 28 games played, with a 2.83 goals against average and .907 save percentage.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound netminder has appeared in 50 career professional games at the AHL and ECHL levels, with a 21-22-1 record, a 2.83 goals against average and .909 save percentage.

Prior to turning pro, the native of Wakefield, Mass. played four seasons of collegiate hockey for Merrimack College from 2008-12, where he was a teammate of current Reign defenseman Kyle Bigos. In 122 career games for the Warriors, Cannata went 59-46-16 with a 2.47 goals against average, a .915 save percentage and seven shutouts.
